Jack Black is an American actor, best known for his roles in Kung Fu Panda, School of Rock, Shark Tale, and Goosebumps, he also voiced characters in video games such as King Kong, Bowser in The Super Mario Bros Movie, and Goosebumps Night of Scares.

History[]

Goosebumps (film)[]

Black plays the role of R.L. Stine in the Goosebumps movie. He also does the voices for Slappy the Dummy and The Invisible Boy. His portrayal of R. L. Stine is more silly and sinister than the real R. L. Stine, being over protective to his daughter Hannah (Odeya Rush), and disliked his neighbor Zach Cooper (Dylan Minnette,) but as the movie continued, they bonded, as they try to defeat Slappy and his army of monsters.

Jack Black himself loved playing in the film, and says it was his favorite role out of all the Rob Letterman films he played in, in fact, he made a music video, "Bumps Gonna Goose Ya!", and he hasn't done a music video since, School of Rock, so Black really liked being a part of this film. His sons begged him to play the film at their school, and they were so excited when it happened.

Trivia[]

  • Jack met with the real R.L. Stine before filming and had lunch together, Black revealed on their day out information on how he'll play Stine, he said he'll play him but more sinister, Stine agreed to this as well.
  • Jack Black himself was mentioned at the very end of the Goosebumps film. If you listen and look really close, you can see R. L. Stine (the author) making a small cameo as the new drama teacher at Madison High; Mr. Black.
