A colony of Bees appear in the seventeenth Goosebumps book, Why I'm Afraid of Bees.

History[]

Why I'm Afraid of Bees[]

Mr. Andretti is Gary Lutz's neighbor and Millville's resident beekeeper. Mr. Andretti has a bee colony in his backyard. He occasionally lets some of the bees out to collect honey.

When Gary goes to the Person-to-Person Vacation center in the hopes of switching bodies, several bees follow him through an open door. Gary is attached to the company's body-switching machine, and the machine is turned on. Gary's vision goes black. When he regains consciousness, he finds that his mind has been transferred into the body of a bee. Gary spends almost the entire rest of the book trying to get his human body back. This includes several scenes from within Mr. Andretti's beehive.

Goosebumps (film)[]

A swarm of bees are among the many Goosebumps monsters released by Slappy the Dummy. They assist Slapy and attack Madison High School to target R.L. Stine. The Bees are let in when several Graveyard Ghouls tear fences apart letting them enter the school, but when the Bees get into the school, Zach uses baseball bats to fight them. They are last seen chasing everyone into the gym along with the other monsters before splatting into the doors when they are closed.

Trivia[]

  • In the Goosebumps film, these Bees appear considerably larger than usual bees. The only reason for their abnormal size is because they were "huge" to Gary Lutz while he was shrunk in the original book. What’s more, they look and sound like the common housefly.
