Because Danny appeared out of nowhere, Hannah Fairchild thinks that he is a ghost. It doesn't help that he survives numerous nearly fatal accidents, which would kill most people. His mother is also deaf, and Hannah believes at first because she can't hear her, then she is a ghost, too. Danny soon discovers that Hannah is the real ghost, and is scared. Danny later decides to stink bomb the mean mailman, Mr. Chesney, only for it to go horribly awry. Danny winds up failing to light the fuse and the house catches on fire, leaving Danny trapped inside. Danny is nearly burned to death, but Hannah arrives and plays Chesney's piano, alerting him of someone inside and allowing Danny to survive. Hannah later joins her family in the afterlife.
Danny is a cautious, but pretty vulnerable person. He usually finds himself in sticky situations alongside Alan and Fred, his friends getting into trouble alongside them and he often tried to be sensible with them, but often to no avail as they would call him chicken if he did not want to do something that would not end well. But Danny thinks that Alan and Fred are okay in spite of their troublesome ways and there are moments where he is quite daring himself. He is somehow able to be unharmed from accidents that he could easily be injured or killed from and he slyly claims that he survives them by magic. Danny knows that his mother does not want anyone to know about her deafness as she does not like anyone feeling sorry for her, so he would never tell anyone out of respect for her. Danny is a friendly young boy and likes to have to have some fun and have some laughs.
Danny is twelve years old, Caucasian, tall and thin with bright red hair, almost as orange as candy corn, brown eyes and a face full of freckles. He is also very pale.
